Ghosts of Avalon Excerpt II

“Pull up camera two,” Jaffa had told Taer, and she had complied, her eyes glued to the screen in front of her. “Shit!” she cursed as she realized the mass of the beast on the screen.

Marick strode with a purpose, only pausing in his journey once, to grab a rifle from the ships armory. The extra gun slung across his back, the captain climbed down the ladder to the bottom floor, bypassing both cargo holds, heading straight for the first docking bay. Buttons were pushed and the room that took up over a quarter of the ships lower level opened to him. A few more purposeful strides and he was opening the airlocks inner door and then sealed it shut behind him. Taking a deep breath, Marick pushed the button sequence that would open the ship’s ramp, and before it had even fully descended, the captain was storming towards the oversized silver Gorhulk, plasma rifle in hand.

“You son of a bitch, what the hell do you want?” The captain shouted, fuming.

Confused, the monster looked at him before issuing a shout of its own.

Marick was close enough to smell the creature’s last meal, the blood from whatever it had been still caking the enormous creatures grey fur. Spittle dripped from the teeth of the ape as it threw it’s arms out wide, rocking backwards on it’s heels and puffing out it’s chest.

The crew watched this display on their screens but heard the bellow as it pierced the ship’s hull.

Settling back down on it’s haunches, the creature stared intently at the human in front of it, daring the man to make a move. But Marick did not. He did not accept the creatures challenge, nor did he back down from it. He continued to stare at the beast, taking deep breaths. Sweat dripped into his eyes but he resisted the urge to wipe them, staring deep into the creatures green eyes.

A great peel of thunder ripped across the sky, but neither force moved. Lightning struck a nearby tree and both, man and monster, became drenched to the bone, but neither budged.

A plasma bolt cut through the darkness, exploding into the side of the Gorhulk’s head.

Some really exciting stuff. Will you eventually have your Nano stuff available in full to read? Or wait until you can edit?

Plan is to wait a month and let a few people read it during that time and then start to edit it. I already know of a few things I need to/want to change, just don't want to take the time now. If you are interested in a copy of it, tell me the format (pdf or mobi are easiest for me, although I can not format the mobi yet) and we will see.

Cool, I wouldn't mind a pdf. I won't be able to help much in the grammatical editing sense, but I'd love to read it none the less.
