Snake

It was a snake. And it bit him. So that’s what mom meant, he thought to himself.

He was standing in the middle of his dorm room, looking for his trig book. He was already going to be late, and now, his hand bleeding, although not badly, he was going to be even later.

“Hey, Jim, come here a minute.”

“What’s up Mark? Woah, what’s with the snake?”

“I was looking for my trig book, and well…”

“Oh. Do you know what kind of snake that is?”

“No man, that’s why I called you, I was hoping you did.”

“Nope, dude, you’re bleeding, did it bite you?”

“Think so.”

“Ok, hold on.” Jim ran out of the room and a moment later, Mark heard the television come on in the living room. He went out to investigate, and found Jim flipping the channels furiously.

“Where’s Jeff Corwin when we need him, he’d know what to do.”

Heh. Corwin to the rescue!

It took me a few minutes to figure out what saying you were referencing. Which means I must be half asleep because it's one of my mom's favorites.

I like the roommate's casual acceptance of the saying as reality. Makes me wonder what else happens literally in their dorm.

I like how Mark is thinking about being late. I'm SO glad that those sayings aren't liable to come true at any given moment. You come up with some awesome, off-the-wall stories man. ++
